Forgot to Mention This Yesterday: After two weeks of vacation, the Street Sweets Truck has finally returned to action. They'll be parked on 53rd btw. 5+6th until 11am, and then 8th Ave. btw. 56+57th for the rest of the day.

City Comes Down Hard on Met Vendors: Need a real world example of what happens when too many vendors converge on a sought after spot previously occupied by one or two vendors at a time? The museum they're parked in front of decides it's too much, and rightly or wrongly the cops force everybody to leave. UPDATE: The Street Vendor Project weighs in on the issue.

Where Do You Eat Lunch?: If you're a Serbian student, working a summer job with a moving company, you eat at Djerdan on 38th btw. 7+8th.  "It’s a Bosnian restaurant, but it’s the same food in Serbia. We used to be the same country, Yugoslavia. I can say there I feel like I’m at home."

Saw This Coming From a Mile Away: As predicted, this just in from the Schnitzel Truck's Twitter feed: "We parked on corner of 41st and 6th but immediate problems with halal guys!! Come and show support! We won't stand for this bullying!!"

Free Frozen Custard Alert: Mark this Thursday (8/27) down on your calendar, because from 3-7pm Spoon City (the Shake Shackish frozen custard spot on 5th Ave. btw. 33+34th) will be giving out free 4oz portions of custard to celebrate their 6 month anniversary.

Congrats to Nychar: She won dinner for two at Lily's, and will hang out with Gary Vaynerchuk this week  as he broadcasts Wine Libarary TV live from the Roger Smith Hotel Lab on Lexington and 47th.  Didn't win?  You can still watch the broadcast live online, or through the window of the lab. Twitter Tracker: On the ML Twitter Tracker this morning: Burger Joint is offering a late lunch special all week, Schnitzel Truck & Cupcake Stop Truck are in Midtown today, and Wafels and Dinges is giving away free dinges all day long on 5th and 23rd (plus free wafels from 11:30 to 12:30pm).

The Met Becomes Flooded With Hot Dog Vendors: It's not Midtown, but the New York Times has the complete story surrouding the vending spots in front of the Met- including the latest development. There are now a number of vendors using the "veterans" clause to park in front of the Met without paying. (Which could be part of the reason why the guy who bid over $600,000 for the spots couldn't pay. The photo of the scene reminds me alot of that vendors wars cartoon.

More on the Vendy Award Nominees: Serious Eats: New York has posted delicious looking write ups of all the 2009 Vendy Award nominees... Biryani Cart, Martinez Taco Truck, King of Falafel & Shawarma, and the Jamaican Dutchy. (And I'm hearing the Rickshaw Dumpling post is on the way takedown has been posted here.)  If the photos alone don't make you want to buy tickets, I don't know what will.
