Magnolia’s Got S’mores: Cupcake lovers take note... Rachel from Cupcakes Take the Cake was at the Midtown branch of Magnolia Bakery this week (on 6th Ave. and 49th St.) where they've added a few new flavors. Apparently the new S'mores Cupcake is out of control good.

Rats! We Kind of Liked Vinny Vincenz: I'm not sure if Vinny Vincenz still parks their pizza trucks Downtown, or on 40th btw. B'way+6th, but after seeing this video of rats running around in their truck while it was parked in front of a Chelsea nightclub, I probably won't be seeking them out anytime soon.

Fancy Restaurant Deal: According to Eater, Fishtail (David Burke's restaurant on 62nd btw. Park+Lex) is doing a special lunchtime Oktoberfest menu featuring $5 burgers, tuna burgers, oysters, clams, fries, milkshakes, and more.

SVP Answers: Earlier in the week, NYT's City Room blog solicited questions for Sean Basinski from the Street Vendor Project and two posts full of answers are now up. The first one talks about licenses, how vending affects brick and mortar stores, and vending in other cities. (Spoiler: He calls Portland's street food variety "unsurpassed" in the US.) The second discusses cleanliness, fundraising, and veterans.

Thursday Specials Reminder: Just a friendly little reminder... if you missed them last Thursday, today is stew peas day at the Jamaican Dutchy (on 51st and 7th) and peking duck day at Yushi (on 47th btw. Park+Lex). I completely forgot about the peking duck last week, so I might have to hit this up today and see how it is.

Zagat’s Best Burger is in Midtown: Zagat's 2010 Guide is out today, and according to Grub Street the Burger Joint at the Parker Meridien (on 56th btw. 6+7th) bested the Shake Shack and last year's winner, DuMont, for the best burger in New York City honors. Kind of surprising, but we'll take it! [Grub Street]

The Bog is Back in Town: Yeah cranberries! The completely useless cranberry bog is back at Rockefeller Center, and Blondie and Brownie have the full report. (OMG... Ace of Cakes was there!) I suppose it is worth swinging by if you want free craisins or bottles of cranberry juice.

Ask the SVP: Sean Basinski from the Street Vendor Project is taking questions on City Room, and it's pretty clear that NYT readers aren't quite the street food fans we are (i.e. "What are the safety regulations of vendors? Often they appear to urinate without washing their hands - some into their own carts? Is that the etiology of the “dirty water hot dog”?")

Twitter Tracker: On the old ML Twitter Tracker this morning:  Papa Perrone is having some truck issues, Street Sweets has added flan to their menu, Schnitzel & Things is on 48th today, and Rickshaw is on 52nd.

Madison Square Park Envy: Why does Madison Square Park get all the good stuff?  Starting on Friday, the park will be hosting a "Harvest Market" featuring food from Fatty Crab, Cabrito, Hill Country, and Wafels and Dinges (through November 1st.)  This in addition to the Shake Shack! What do we get at Bryant Park? 'wichcraft and a sukkah.  What a rip-off.  [via Grub St.]
