Van Leeuwen Ice Cream & Espresso in Midtown Today: Ben Van Leeuwen checks in this morning to let us know that their new Ice Cream & Espresso Truck will be parked on 46 & 6th today. "We are serving housemade baked goods, Intelligentsia coffee & of course Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream. From now until at least 6pm."

More on MomoMidtown: For those of you who want some play by play Ma Peche action, Eater has been liveblogging the scene since 11am (spoiler: their intern got my bill, but sadly didn't pay it) and TONY's Feed Blog is live twittering (they ran out of banh mi at 1:50pm!)

Free Brownie Samples Alert: Noticed this on the ML Twitter Tracker this morning... Street Sweets will be on 50th giving out brownie samples starting at 11am and Wafels & Dinges is on 45th with hot cocoa. Nice.

Flatiron’s Answer to In N Out?: Grub Street has more info on Fresh N Fast, the coming soon to the Flatiron District burger spot that Midtown Lunchers have been talking about in the forums for the past week. Of note... they're using LaFrieda beef, Martin's potato rolls, and there will be a "secret sauce".

Veal, Tuscan Cheesesteak, Gluten Free Cupcakes: on the ML Twitter Tracker today: Cravings is on 37th (but leaving by 1:30pm), Cupcake Stop is on 47th with gluten free cupcakes, Wafels is on 52nd, Street Sweets is on 55th, it's Veal Schnitzel day on Park Ave. & 26th, and it's Tuscan cheesesteak day at Cer Te.

Free Salad Alert: You know I don't do salad, but for those of you who do... Chop't is opening a new location on Broadway btw. 41+42nd, and as a training exercise for their staff will be giving away free food today from 11:30am to 1:30pm (or until food runs out.) [NYC Recession Diary]

Midtown East, You’ve Let the Schnitzel Truck Down: From @schnitzeltruck: "Hi guys, letting u know now, we are planning on changing our Tuesday location starting next week. Not enough peeps on 48thst. Will head west." What, no celebs on 3rd Ave?  (Let the sadness begin.)

O Bao Still Not Open: Despite reports that it might open yesterday, O Bao (the new Vietnamese noodle shop on 53rd btw. 2+3rd) is still not open. We'll check again next Monday (since that's the only day of the week the owners find lucky enough to open a restaurant on.)

More DOH Fun: Following up yesterday's news about Crisp and Grill 44, comes this report from Lunch'er Scott: " I headed to Kikku on 55th btw. 5+6th and found the notorious yellow sticker on the door" Their last inspection back in June netted them a 2, which is about the best you can do in Midtown.  We'll see what this one is all about.

Milant is Probably Not Coming Back: Speaking of the DOH... when Milant closed earlier in the year, there was talk of the owner finding a new space to re-open his beloved sandwich shop.  Sadly I'm hearing rumors that it's not looking good... they just can't afford the rents in the area.
