Products I Love

No profile volunteers today, boo! Instead, I am writing about a few food products I have gotten recently that I absolutely love.

Urban honey! I was so happy to finally get my hands on this. Mine comes from the roof of  SHARE, a non profit food distribution program in North Philly (I recommend volunteering there, it is very rewarding).  The honey is light with floral notes, and is good for allergies at the same time.

Starr’s Continental Midtown isn’t generally my type of lunch scene. Most of the “tapas” style menu that would fall in the ML sub $10 price range are not quite big enough or fun enough. But…there was a certain something that I had to try there.

What is a Pinolshake? (Gluten Free, Healthy Product Alert)

Biking around the Italian Market, I spotted a stand with two men selling something other than the usual random kitchen supplies or cheap produce you normally find in the market. When I checked it out, I found out about a new product I had never heard of before. The Blue Corn Alliance  is a new project that supports farmers in San Mateo Ozolco, a small town in Mexico, by selling their native corn meal product, Pinole,  in Philadelphia.

Luncher Approved Curry Fries


Yesterday, Profiled Luncher Erin mentioned her love for the curry fries at Maru Global so I had to give them a try. Japanese curry is way different than Indian curry, its more aromatic and sweet, less cuminy. And Maru serves it over fries ($6)  as well as over burritos and rice.
