Reading Terminal’s Pub, Molly Moll-eh?

Molloy Malloy’s replaced the worn down Beer Garden in Reading Terminal one year ago. The place has hot and cold pub fare and a way better beer selection than the beer garden it replaced. But with so much good food in the terminal, is it worth coming in for more than a drink?

The pulled pork sandwich ($8) had the hint of sweetness from the apple it was braised with but was dry. You wouldn’t choose this over DiNic’s

I really wanted the short rib empanada but they were out, so we settled for the chicken pot pie. I was glad that the flakey crust was there, but the filling was completely unremarkable.

On another visit the cold macaroni salad from the take out case was pretty good, the fresh tomatoes being the key.

And the grab and go the dijon chicken salad was also acceptable, with big unscary chicken chunks.

The real kicker, the thing that had me saying Molly Moll- oy vey, was my beverage. As if $4 for  PBR wasn’t bad enough, my simple, non alcoholic iced tea cost $2.50 for  a tiny cup. I just think thats all sorts of wrong to mark up something that costs pennies to make. Molly, I was unimpressed and now, just plain turned off.

THE + (What somebody who likes this place would say)

  • Decent grab and go counter

THE – (What somebody who doesn’t like this place would say)

  • Overpriced
  • Unremarkable food
