Free Cupcakes At Sweetery This Morning: If you work near Hudson & King and need breakfast (or second breakfast), then get yourself over to the Sweetery truck between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. They've partnered with the Food Network Magazine and they'll be heading to Midtown after mid-morning, so act fast!

It’s Macaron Day, And That Means Freebies

Sorry for the late notice on this one, but it’s Macaron Day and you can get free macarons from a bunch of different bakeries downtown. Francois Payard has organized this delightful event, and to exercise your freeloading you need to tell the people at the participating shop that you’re there for Macaron Day NYC. You’re limited to one per person at each location, and some of the bakeries are also donating a portion of the day’s macaron sales to City Harvest if you need a sugar rush. The bakeries in on this deal in the Downtown Lunch coverage area are:

Bisousciao.Macarons – 101 Stanton St.

Dominique Ansel Bakery – 189 Spring St.

Francois Payard Bakery – 210 Murray St. and 116 W. Houston

La Maison du Chocolat – 63 Wall St.

Who Wants Lunch For Two At Kutsher’s Tribeca?

Sometimes we at Midtown Lunch: Downtown get offered a meal at fancy pants places with lunch outside the $10 price cap. Kutsher’s Tribeca on Franklin St. (btw. Hudson & Greenwich) which has a lovely-looking lunch menu including gems like duck schmaltz fries and a pastrami sandwich recently invited me to lunch. Instead of eating fatty meats and carbs myself, Kutsher’s has allowed me to give away a lunch for two for up to $100 to be used Monday through Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and by May 31. If all of that sounds like something you could do, let us know in the comments why you and your guest should be the chosen ones. You have until the end of Friday to plead your case and a winner will be chosen and notified by the following Monday. Take a look at the lunch menu after the jump. Read more »

Food To Eat Launch Means Free Food: To celebrate its launch, Food to Eat (kind of like a Seamless Web that includes food trucks) has partnered with some places downtown today to bring us freebies. You can get a side of fries at Big D's Grub or zeppoles at Valducci's, and at brick and mortars there's a can of soda at Oliva Gourmet on Broadway btw. Vesey & Barclay or alfajores at Ruben's Empanadas (Multiple Locations). You have to actually sign up for and order with the service to get the free food, so I guess it depends on how cheap you're feeling today.

Free Banh Mi!: Today we get the rare free food deal from a place you'd actually want to eat at. Scoutmob has a free banh mi offer from Banh Mi Saigon in Little Italy. You can choose from pork or vegetarian and only have a couple of weeks to use it.

Free Cupcake Alert: If you haven't had breakfast yet, you may want to head over to the new Crumbs Bake Shop at 40 Broad (at Exchange Place). They started giving away 1,000 cupcakes at 7:30 a.m., so freeloaders, you should probably just go there now.

Another Thursday…More Free Lunches From MasterCard

This is the final week for free lunch from MasterCard’s Priceless NY promotion at various food trucks, so freeload while you can! You can find vegan truck Cinnamon Snail and something called Pizza Truck of NY on Varick btw. Houston & King. In slightly out-of-bounds territory, Vendy Awards Cup-winner Solber Pupusas and the Mudtruck will be on Broadway btw. 8th St. & Astor Pl. You probably know the fine print by now, but if not you can find it here. The gist: You have to have a MasterCard, retweet with #PricelessNY and/or “like” the credit card on Facebook.
