First Look: Dough Re Mi Brings Every Kind Of Grilled Cheese You Can Imagine

Do you like fancy grilled cheese sandwiches? Too tired of waiting for Gorilla Cheese or Milk Truck to make their stops in the Financial District?

Dough Re Mi Is Finally Opening Today, Serving Breakfast And Grilled Cheese

After a grand opening went awry due to hurricane Sandy, Dough Re Mi is finally opening today serving us doughnuts, bagels and grilled cheese, among other breakfast and lunch items.

The shop at Water St. and Coenties Slip was set to open in the fall of 2012 when the hurricane flooded the area and caused extensive damage in the storefront. You can read the whole story here, but the news you really care about is they’re finally ready to feed us. According to their Facebook page, the hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and if any of you check them out on opening day, let us know how the food was in the comments.

Dough Re Mi Looks Nearly Ready To Open!

When last we checked in with Dough Re Mi, it was 1.5 years ago and the store at Water St. & Coenties Slip was looking to open in the spring of 2012. That time came and went, and then hurricane Sandy flooded the area.

Yesterday, the awnings were up and there’s a help wanted sign in the window, all of which are good signs. The web site is stuck in 2011, but it looks like they’ll have doughnuts, bagels and grilled cheese among other things. Update: Reports are that the place will open on Monday.

Dough Re Mi Shooting For Spring Opening

I’m sure many of you working way down in the nether regions of the Financial District have been wondering what’s up with the mysterious coffee cup holding a delicious doughnut in the old Burritoville space. Dough Re Mi will be serving up breakfast carbs including, yes, doughnuts, and possibly a few lunch items, but not for a couple of months. Johnpaul Perrone of Midtown’s Papa Perrone truck is in on the project and has been keeping me posted. He says they’re still working on details and it looks like they’ll open no later than April.
