Tandoor Palace Has An Interesting Back Story: When I ate at Tandoor Palace on Fulton St. (at Gold) it seemed like a typical steam table Indian/Pakistani place, but it has more of a story than I thought. It's too bad I didn't order those mustard greens or the corn roti.

PROFILE: Downtown Lunch’er “Max”

As is customary here on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we’ll profile a different lunch’er and get their recommendations for places to eat in Downtown NYC. This week, we have Max who is a part-time downtown lunch’er (and also part-time midtown lunch’er) and likes to save his stomach space for some Vietnamese sandwiches.

sandwiches (on rye, tomatoes, no lettuce please), yakitori, Jamaican patties… the list goes on!!

Least Favorite Foods: I don’t get the appeal of mac and cheese. Bad pizza, cookie cutter street market food (e.g., deep fried oreos, those giant sausages, friggin’ mozzarepas) Read more »

Nicky’s Vietnamese Sandwiches In The FiDi Open!: How do I know Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches is open? Because I just ate lunch from the newest branch of the mini-chain on Nassau St. at Ann (On a side note, my earlier guess at where Nicky's would be is actually Bread Factory Cafe). Expect a full report coming soon, or you could go get your hands on a sandwich and some bubble tea right now.

Fuji Catering Proves Laziness And A Decent Lunch Can Go Hand In Hand

It’s getting to that time of year when the weather can make that generic deli across the street suddenly looks more appealing than your favorite cart a few blocks away. That’s when delivery comes in handy, and if you’re a fan of Japanese bento lunches, then you might want to check out Fuji Catering. I hadn’t heard of it until Lunch’er Kevin pointed it out in his profile. Who doesn’t like having cheap food delivered to them? Read more »

Free Malaysian Food This Week

width=The Malaysia Kitchen Food Truck started roaming the city giving out free food last week, but only hit midtown. This week they’re coming downtown Tuesday and Wednesday to park on Canal & Lafayette (find the schedule on their Web site or on Twitter) and it looks like Nyonya will be providing food those days if you’re looking for a free lunch or snack.

Behold The Korilla Korean BBQ Truck: There's a first look at the Korilla Korean BBQ Truck over on the midtown site, and the menu and prices look promising. No word on how the food at the preview actually tasted, but since they promised to come downtown, I guess we can find out for ourselves after they launch on Monday.
