PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Dave”

Every Tuesday I turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week, it’s Dave- a system admin who sent us the photo of his sandwich from Murray’s Salami. He also doesn’t seem to mind spending some money for good meat.

Name: Dave

Age: 25

Occupation: System Administrator

Where in Midtown do you Work?: Puresend, 41st and Lexington

Favorite Kind of Food: TexMex

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Is there a such thing?

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Chimi Combo @ Calico Jacks (on 2nd Ave. btw. 42+43rd), the Cuban Sandwich @ Sophies (multiple locations), the Benjamin Burger from Benjamin Steak House (on 41st btw. Mad+Park), the T-bone Burger @ Rare (on 37th St. & Lex.), the #2 or #13 @ Milant (on 39th btw. Lex+3rd), and anything at El Rio Grande (on 38th btw. Lex+3rd)

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Old Bridge Deli (on Lex btw. 40+41st). They are one of the better generic delis that I have found in midtown and their rolly wraps are a nice change of pace. (Dave is also the one who sent us the photo of the rolly wrap fail yesterday -zach)

Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? Murrays Salami. I’ve frequented the Grand Central Terminal Food Court and Market in the past, but only returned after reading of the $10 Challenge. Also the Milant Deli, good price and tasty food.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Midtown Manhatten. I have yet to find a location with greater variety of delicous food. (Preach on brother! -zach)

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? Does anyone have another good tex-mex style place to recommend?

Really? This is where you lose me Dave. I don’t mind Tex Mex, but I don’t actively seek it out. I’m going to have to turn this one over to the readers. And as always, if you want to be the next Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er, or you’d like to nominate somebody in your office email me at zach@midtownlunch.com

  • Dave, I thoroughly enjoyed viewing your salami.

  • Benjamin Steakhouse? Rare? For lunch? Dave definitely knows the secret handshake of overpaid technologists with too much disposable income.

  • Dave’s buying the first round at the next happy hour :-)

  • Thanks for letting me know who I’m watching out for.

  • bens isnt all that bad price wise at $15 with fries, rare on the other hand can be pricey, but the burgers at those 2 places leave little to be desired.

  • Mama Mexico is good – mole enchiladas, tacos, guacamole, free chips & salsa, etc. Won’t change your life, but hits the spot.

  • ….those sleepy hooded eyes…..colar(s) up…..DEYYYY it Frankie Two times!!!!

  • Oh damn, 2! Collars pimped up. That’s all sorts of badassness.

  • st patties day + drunk = double pop (although the fleece the collar doesnt really fold over)

  • Dave is ballingggggggg !! Who pays for lunch at Puresend ?

  • My dearest Dave:

Has anyone told you that you have a rather freakishly large forehead??? I am mildly concerned (as a PhD, that is).

You greatly resemble the upside down face performer who draws a little face on his (also freakishly prominent) chin and gesticulates wildly with his mouth and tongue. Both Mamacita and Mc Beagle may be interested in such a performance. Should that excite you.

  • Chucky, you would know about body invertness, as you speak from your(huge stretch marked scarred) arse.

  • Dear DocChuckles:

After seeing pictures of you and your amazing sow, or “wife” as you so interestingly call her, I am mildly concerned as well! Bestiality is illegal in all states in this nation and I have a suspicion that it is an act that you may regularly be partaking in. This being a website dedicated to eating food in New York, and not carnal acts with barnyard animals, no one here is interested in such performances and it excites no one.

    Truly,

Ben, NMtaB (Not Married to a Beast)

  • I go to Taco Express at 397 8th Ave and 30th for my Tex-Mex. They are really good and have a good variety of items. They have a $5.29 lunch special but my favorite is the Shrimp Quesadillas.

  • I don’t know how to interpret this, exactly, but it is typical for DocChuck to make a life-sized blowup copy (with a small hole cut in the vicinity of the mouth) of the face of the Tuesday Victim to then place on me prior to, well, you know. What isn’t typical is for him to tape said reproduction of a face over my posterior instead of my own face. But that’s the sitch today, if such things invert you. You be the judge.

  • If the CockChug’s doll is the same size as his wife, he must be using paper milled from sequoias for these unnatural acts. And all 3 of you look like you were inflated to 200 p.s.i.

  • re Boyd:

    ROFL

  • Number one pet peeve: ManhattAn. AN. THERE IS NO FRIGGING E IN MANHATTAN! WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR PEOPLE TO REMEMBER?!

  • double collar pop? seriously?

my d-uche radar just red-lined. you look like a chubby dave attel trying too hard to be cool.
