Who Doesn’t Love a Good Seamen Fair
If you don’t mind walking a little out of bounds for good Scandinavian food, Eating in Translation brings word that yesterday was the start of the Norwegian Seaman’s Church Annual Christmas Fair (on 52nd btw. 1+2nd). You can see his coverage from last year, where they had sandwiches and sweets (and everything was under $7.)

This joke doesn’t work so well in print.

… not wayne’s joke, the blog title.

@ wayne, you beat me to it…wait…that doesn’t sound good either!
-
flatrock, they call me ‘the butcher’ because you can’t beat my meat

To help pull these comments out of sounding completely fifth grade, I’d like to add something:
According to the church website, the buffet is now $20 and the next and last date for the lunch this year is Dec. 10.
Please proceed with the Beavis and Butthead comments. (OMG. Somebody said Seaman!) -
ha ha, this is when Seamen’s unfair I guess. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u248/pelvio/1222811561953.jpg

The Wednesday buffet at the Norwegian church will resume in January, I believe; it’s certainly worthwhile if you skip breakfast (and perhaps dinner the night before): http://www.eatingintranslation.com/2008/02/norwegian-seame.html
Exxx-cellent, as Mr. Burns would say.
A nice thing about their Christmas fair is that you can drop in for just a taste: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eatingintranslation/2042563486/
Either way, they’re very friendly; ditto the folks at the Danish and Finnish fairs. I haven’t tried the plate lunch at the Swedish bazaar, but I hope to remedy that oversight in about an hour.
Smithers: I think women and seamen don’t mix.
Mr. Burns: We know what you think.
