(Out of Bounds) Bits & Pieces: Piece of Chicken, 8 Cent Mac & Cheese
I know some of you work on the outskirts of Midtown Lunch boundaries, and others of you don’t understand why I have boundaries at all (sorry, every man must know his limits), so this one is for you people.
Piece of Chicken, the little take out place that opened in the kitchen of Jezebel (now 5 Napkin Burger) on 45th btw. 8+9th, has re-opened after being closed by the Department of Health for an expired permit. This is good news for anybody who likes $1 pieces of fried chicken, collard greens, and black eyed peas, mixed with $2.50 scoops of mac and cheese. They’ve also started serving plate lunches, further solidifying its reputation as one of the few places to get decent soul food in Midtown (even if it is out of bounds.)
8 cent mac and cheese, and more crappy BBQ, after the jump…

Tomorrow, you’ll be able to get 8 cent mac and cheese from Supermac on 7th Ave. btw. 29+30th through the website 8coupons. This is the same site that offers the free fries coupon from Pop Burger (56th btw. Madison+5th.) I tried to get that one, but it didn’t work. Oh well. The bad- you have to put your cell phone number in. The Good- 8 cent mac and cheese. Proceed at your own risk.
And finally, I’ve gotten a few emails about this one, and even though I don’t care, maybe you will (that’s the kind of unselfish guy I am.) Brother Jimmy’s BBQ has opened up a new location on Lexington & 31st. Enjoy!

Soul Fixins has opened up a new location @ 28th St between 7th and 8th Aves. New “Recession” menu with lots of choices under $10. The 34th St (btwn 8th and 9th) has been a favorite or mine for a while…They also deliver…Is this new location “in-bounds?”
I actually went to Piece of Chicken today – thighs & mac’n’cheee more delicious than ever
And you just know it was spotlessly clean …. at least for today
