Cinnamon Snail Coming to NYC in 3-4 Weeks (Hopefully)

Off the top of my head I can’t think of any “out” vegan ML Lunchers, but even an avid meat and dairy lover like myself can appreciate the imminent arrival of The Cinnamon Snail, New Jersey’s vegan food truck. Why? Let’s talk doughnuts. Incredibly delicious doughnuts.

I first tried the Cinnamon Snail at the 2010 Vendy’s and I fell in love with their s’mores doughnut.

At this year’s Vendy’s their creme brulee doughnut took home the special Maker’s Mark prize.

While doughnuts were my Cinnamon Snail gateway, what I’ve tried of their regular lunch menu has been awesome and inventive. At this year’s Vendy’s I had their terrific roasted red pepper and bean tart and a seitan wrap. Their menu is local and seasonal and you can look forward to sandwiches like Lemongrass five spice seitan with curried cashews, wasabi mayonnaise, arugula, and Szechuan chili sauce on a grilled baguette, Provencal white wine grilled tofu, with white truffles cashew cheese, kalamata olive tapenade, arugula onion and fried sage leaves on a grilled baguette and breakfast items like fresh fig pancakes with chamomile blood orange syrup and pine nut butter.

I exchanged emails with Chef Adam Sobel who says they “have obtained everything we need to operate EXCEPT our photo ID badges which we should have in 3-4 weeks.” (Nothing like city bureaucracy!) But along with the good news comes some less good news: “Unfortunately, we will be getting to the city just before the end of our season. We are off the road from Xmas-valentines day (2.5 months). ”

But back to the good news. They promise that they are definitely planning on coming to midtown. Let us know in the comments where you’d like to see them park! We’ll keep you posted as we have more news about when they are hitting the streets.
