Flatiron News: BBQ, Oktoberfest and Mad Sq Eats

_MG_7254 - Version 2

Fall is upon us and with it a wave of new deliciousness coming to the Flatiron Lunch area. This year doesn’t quite have the crazy weekly openings that we saw last year, with Eataly, FoodParc and Hill Country Chicken popping up all in the same month or so. Still, there’s some interesting new lunch options coming our way. Find out more after the jump.

On Sixth Avenue, just a couple doors down from The Limelight, BBQue’s Smoke Shack has been coming together. Based on the look of this place, I’m going to imagine it’s a bit more fast casual and thus cheaper than the pricier barbecue options in the neighborhood.

If you’ve passed Madison Square Park at all over the last couple days, you know that Worth Square is getting set up for another round of Madison Square Eats. The month-long outdoor food market has been a favorite of mine since they started doing it last fall. It opens up today and there are more than a few familiar names there. Here’s the list from Mad Park News:

Almond
Asiadog
Bar Suzette
The Cannibal
Fatty Snack
Graffiti
Mehtaphor
Hong Kong Street Cart
Hot Blondies Bakery
ilili
Junoon
The Milk Truck
Momofuku Milk Bar
Nunu Chocolates
Perfect Picnic
Red Hook Lobster Pound
Roberta’s Pizza
Robicelli’s
Sigmund’s
Spices & Tease
Stuffed Artisan Cannolis
Wafels & Dinges.

I can’t wait to check it out, so expect a write up next week with some of my favorites.

This may be more happy hour than lunch related, but interesting nonetheless, FoodParc is celebrating Oktoberfest by selling sausages from all the BeerParc stalls and offering a range of German beers.

Also not quite on subject, La Mar Cebicheria has me really excited. I ate some amazing ceviche when I was in Peru and one of my favorite meals was at the Lima branch of La Mar. There’s no way even a cocktail fits into the Midtown Lunch price range, but the next time you’ve got a business lunch, I highly recommend it.
