Vlada Gives You Some Sass With Your Glass
If you like to eat, chances are you like to drink (read: a lot of you are freakin’ lushes), so every week our Happy Hour Correspondent “Mamacita” will post about a different bar in Midtown that fits the Midtown Lunch mentality: unhealthy food, not lame (unless it’s lame in a cool way), and most importantly… cheap.
I thought for this week’s ML happy hour I’d branch out. My lush-ish tastes do not revolve purely around dive bars and hot Irish bartenders. Sometimes you need to work your thang and I found a fun place to get some sass with your glass.
Vlada is the bar by the people that brought you Russian Samovar. It is named after the owner Vlada von Shats and offers infused vodkas similar to its sister bar and the (not related) Russian Vodka Room that I reviewed a year ago. However, Vlada is not where suited, old KGB agents reminisce on times gone by. This is a slick stylish club that caters to the LGBT crowd and the night scene is more DJs and Drag queens then dudes seeking devotchkas. There are two levels which hosting various events through the week. Infused vodkas include normal sweet variations like berries to more adventurous ones like horseradish. The latter is actually very good, but I’d suggest using it in a bloody mary, not straight up. Happy hour is 4 to 8pm with $3 beers, $4 vodkas and $5 wine and well drinks. I only had a short while to drop by this week and I got the feeling some girl taking a bunch of photos would not go over well, so I plan to go back some late night in my highest heels and get a better feel for the place and report back.
