Who Knew?
According to Adam Kuban, those cheap ham sandwiches on white bread at Cafe Zaiya (on 41st btw. Mad+5th) are actually far more “authentic” than any of us ever imagined. (He remembers them fondly from a cafe in Hiroshima.) Good to know… although we can’t really imagine wanting one of those over Zaiya’s fried chicken sandwiches! Right?

If Adam Kuban, who visited the Land of the Rising Sun, and who indulged in a Hiroshima ham sandwich on white bread, then THAT is the end of the report, as far as I am concerned.
When my other activities are completed, I WILL hop a plane, traverse the dangerous skies over to Hiroshima, and grab one of those ‘authentic’ ham sandwiches on white bread.
Because Adam Kuban says so.
