We’re in the Mood For a Po’Boy Today!
Don’t know about you guys, but after last night’s game how could you not be in the mood for a po’boy today! You could go to that place with the weird muffuletta on restaurant row, or that place on 9th Ave. that serves rice and beans (rather than beans and rice), but for us the best place in Midtown for some hot po’boy action is the Grand Central Oyster Bar lunch time take out window. It’s not as good as, say, Crabby Jack’s… but it’s as good as you’re going to get in Midtown. And considering this site’s long history with New Orleans (Zach got married there, took Ralph Brennan to Kwik Meal, and live blogged the food at Jazzfest a few years back) don’t be surprised if you see some Profiled Midtown Lunchers waiting on line with you. (Not in the mood for a Po’boy? Popeye’s, on 40th btw. 7+8th, would be an acceptable replacement!)

Dukes FKA Earls makes a good one, as does multiple locations of Two Boots. For the Forest Chills peeps (Shout out, yo!) try Mardis Gras on Austin St!

Delta Grill is not terrible, and their lunch deals are good. I don’t love the fake bayou atmosphere (looks like it should be in a mall somewhere), but the fod is actually pretty good for what it is.

Get in a New Orleans mood and try standing *in* line. Gets in my nerves.
I actually watched the NFC championship game at Bourbon Street and had a great time. They have surprisingly good (non-spicy) chicken wings, but the menu only pretends with the cajun thing. That said, that’s one of the grosser pictures of a muff I’ve seen.

Delta grill on 48th & 9th is a louisiana joint. They have a po-boy + fries deal for $11. Never had it, but hey – if you wanna get authentic, then I guess this is your best bet in midtown west
