Streetcart Pigeon? This Can’t Be Right
According to this Twitter user the Trini-Paki Boys cart (on 43rd & 6th) will be serving pigeon today…? Could it have said pigeon peas? Photo confirmation is welcome here. (The least they could do is call it squab, right?)

I had squab one time and while it was tasty, it was still difficult for me to get over the fact that it was a pigeon. This was in breast form, I hope these guys serve it whole and someone posts pictures…

enough of this talk?!?! Who the hell went and got this?
BTW, props for the Trini Pak boys for helping out with the pigeon infestation of midtown. Now just put a couple rat-kabobs on the menu.

I was mistaken. The sign said “pigeon (pulao).” Didn’t realize that pulao is pigeon PEAS. It was good though. Tasted like dirty rice.
-

Pulao is actually the rice/ grain in the dish. It should be Peas Pulao to avoid any confusion. Oh well.

Disappointing it’s not the real deal, I like pigeon. There’s a great scene in the Samual Selvon novel Lonely Londoners where one of the Trinidadian immigrants is so hungry he kills a pigeon in Hyde Park, to the disdain of a nearby Englishwoman. If only our Trinidadians would get inspired.

dubs:
I’ve always wondered why the homeless don’t eat pigeons. Is it that nyc street pigeons are dangerous to eat and the squab we eat in a restaurant is of a different quality?
-

Not feral pigeons….wood pigeon,collared doves.
you know it’s wild when you get a Ding! from the toilet the next day as the shot its the pan
So to speak.

Yeah, dubs, you’d be surprised how diet totally changes taste. That’s why you never hear of people eating carion birds, because they taste like rotten meat. I imagine a NYC pigeon would taste something like a homeless person. They sort of are street people of the skies.
