Is Chick-Fil-A Offering Catering in Midtown?

Got this frantic email from Lunch’er Steven today: “Hey Zach, I just saw like 5 people in yellow Chick-Fil-A shirts with those domino’s pizza heat bags filled with food I imagine, go into one of the elevator banks in 30 rock. WTF?! Where could this be coming from?”  Well Steven, I’d love to be able to tell you that the only NYC Chick-Fil-A, located in the NYU Weinstein Hall food court, was now doing delivery but it’s nothing that exciting. Midtown Lunch friend Lisa Fain, from the blog Homesick Texan, confirms that Chick-Fil-A was in town today bringing food to various “media outlets”.

Her anger inducing photo is after the jump…

This probably has to do with the fact that Chick-Fil-A’s annual dress like a cow and get a free meal promotion is on Friday.  TOO BAD THERE ISN’T A LOCATION IN MIDTOWN (hint hint!)

  • Look at the lil cute cow stuffies! What’s that wrapped up in the far side of the pic? Ahhh… Lisa, buddy, me want cow? :)

  • Wait, I don’t get it, why do you get a free chicken sandwich if you dress like a cow?

  • Because the cow is Chick-Fil-A’s best friend. They want to promote Chick-Fil-A so that people eat more chicken (I think cows spell it ‘chikin’ because cows are apparently illiterate).

The more chicken is eaten, the less cow is eaten.

    (at least that’s the premise)

I saw a promotional car decked out in Chick-Fil-A logos this morning on my walk to work and was wondering what was up. False hope, I guess.

  • Adam – ahhh, thanks. Wasn’t there a Burger King or McDonald’s commercial a while back like that? Or did a Chick-fil-a commercial infiltrate the market (like Sonic and Dairy Queen even though we have neither in the NYC area)?

Or when Burger King had Mr. Potato Head promoting their new fries… that was just sick.

  • I can confirm this as well- they got off the elevator in my building at work (I work for NYPL in the old B. Altman Building at 34th and Madison).

  • Anger inducing indeed!

  • wow that works out perfectly! Tomorrow is casual Friday!

  • So they’re promoting themselves to the media outlets but they have no location in manhattan? meh – their waffle fries are heart attack inducing anyway, used to live beside one in colorado, chicken breat sandwiches are usually dry as hell too until you add that honey mustard they do.

    Chick Fil A is delicious

  • Yeah one of our vendors at work is sponsoring a happy hour tonight catered by Chick-Fil-A. Were in mid-town so they def deliver. I’ll have to ask him who he called.

  • Just got some surprise Chick-Fil-A myself. Two girls I work with came by with two black insulated bags filled with chicken sandwiches and Dr. Pepper – just like in the picture above. I was on the phone, so I couldn’t ask where it was from. I just nodded my head “yes” as they handed me one of each item. It was magical.

  • How do I dress up as “a media outlet”?

(black and white and bleeding all over?)

This is an amazing opportunity for Chick-Fil-A if it really offers a catering service in otherwise, Jack’s Sliders and Sushi Restaurant at lower east side of New York is available to get the delicious Japanese food and catering services.
