99 Miles to Philly is Closed
This just in thanks to lunch’er “ecoli”: The just out of bounds location of 99 Miles to Philly that opened on 2nd Ave. and 52nd Street has closed. It looks like the original EV location is still open, which means that it’s just this space that’s cursed. Zip Burger barely lasted two years in the same spot, and- I don’t know if you know this but- hamburgers are really popular in NYC.

Big bummer. Was classic philly style and a treat to be able to get up here in mid-town.
Anyone know of any good subtitutes in the area?
-
pshinnyc: no.
Some like Carl’s (30’s and third ave, I think). I think the roll sucks too much to be a contendah.

Bummer – was it even open for a year?

I do like Carl’s, but alas to far for me for any normal midtown lunch day.

The cheese steak was good, the onion rings were the best I ever had in Mid-Town (maybe anywhere!) but the service was ever so slow. Alas, I wish I had known, I would have gone one more time…
