Even ‘Recession Special’ Hit By Recession

The New York Times reported yesterday that Gray’s Papaya, which has a Midtown location on 8th Ave. and 37th Street, will be raising the price of its famous “recession special” (2 dogs and a drink) from $3.50 to $4.45. *Sigh* Is nothing sacred?

For that price I’d much rather just go to the OG on 86th and 3rd…

Two dogs and a drink for $3.50 at Grays was a little bit of a stretch for what you get, seeing that you can get two hot dogs and a drink for $3.00 at many carts. For $4.50, I would rather go with a plate of street meat.

hmmm, used to love the special before/after a concert at MSG after hitting Rudy’s or heading back to the Port Authority, but now charging 4.45, its a little out of reach, not worth it…
