Midtown Lunch Readers’ Poll: Best Japanese Take Out

I’m out of town until January 7th, so until then I’m turning over the site to you for the First Annual Midtown Lunch Readers Poll, to determine the best that Midtown lunch’ing has to offer. You can only vote once, so choose wisely. Links to info about most of the nominees can be found on the “Restaurant Index” page. Feel free to write in votes in the comments section. Official winners will be posted to the site on January 9th.

  • No good ones on more West? 50s/6tv ave.

  • How can I choose? They’re all good for different things– Yagura for its kind of curry (with veggies and free jinzuke) or good udon/soba, zaiya for cheap sandwiches and pastry (mmm currypan and yakimochi), chiyoda for excellent nigiri and eel rice bowls, go go curry for more porky fried curry.

  • Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda! Chiyoda!

Did I mention I like Chiyoda?

  • Quite surprised Chiyoda didn’t get more votes than it did but I can see why Café Zaiya is leading the poll. Café Zaiya has a wide inexpensive variety of goods, Yagura has supermarket/lunch menu, Go Go Curry…can’t say much for that since I haven’t been there yet, 47th Convenience Store…is never open… ;_;, and Chiyoda has lots of yummy choices and a nice restaurant in the back. My vote goes to Chiyoda, even if they’re a bit more expensive than the other choices, its worth it.

  • I used to really like Chiyoda, but have grown tired of it, the sushi just isn’t that decent, and their chicken is awful. Gotta go with Go Go
