BREAKING NEWS: Popeyes Opens in time to make it an extra FAT Tuesday
Now this is exciting. The new Popeyes I reported on a few weeks ago (on 40th btw. 7th & 8th) has opened!!! And just in time to celebrate Fat Tuesday.

For those of us longing to be in New Orleans right now for Mardi Gras, this will be have to be our consolation prize. (It’s no “Mama’s” Chicken Box, but it will do!) Spicy Fried Chicken, biscuits (made with lard), and red beans and rice.
Pics of the inside, after the jump…

If you’re not a Popeye’s convert just yet, a full +/- is coming soon. For those who have seen the light, I’ll see you there at lunchtime!
Posted: 8:10 am, February 20th, 2007 under 40th btw. 7+8th, Cajun, Fast Food Chains, Fried Chicken.

[...] Or at least you can get your fat on. You can start by hitting up the newly opened Popeye’s Fried Chicken at 40th Street between 7th and 8th. And of course you’ll need to follow it up with some pancakes. Lucky for you, IHOP is giving them away free until 10 p.m. today! Here’s a list of nearby IHOPs, for your convenience. [...]

Awesome, I’ve been a big Popeye’s freak since high school, but the one on 34th between 7th and 8th just does do it for me.

Awesome! It’s too little too late for me, though. I used to go to the location at 45th b/n Fifth and Sixth until it closed suddenly. Nice to see it’s an option again in Midtown, even though it would be a little out of the way for me if I still worked in my former office.

[...] If you wanna do it quick and easy, go the fast food route: Hit the new Popeye’s in Midtown and get yourself a po’ boy. Another good, quick choice is Clinton Street Baking — they’re hosting pancake month, which is a good way to pack on some pounds this fat Tuesday. [...]

Awesome - thank you for the breaking news. I saw it come up in the RSS feed and immediately went over. I am now sitting at my desk eating chicken and its great. There is grease everywhere.
The only complaint is that the store was full of a smokey haze and smells like burning grease. I guess they will work out their exhaust system soon enough and it does not impact the food.
