First Look: Macchiato Espresso Bar PLUS the End of the Week Wrap Up

So many places… so little time.  On my way back to work from Just Salad earlier in the week, I swung by a “new coffee place” someone had emailed me about.  Macchiatto Espresso Bar on 44th St. btw. Lexington & 3rd opened on Monday.  A big fat who cares to most, but if you work near there, and you’re looking for a new lunch spot, maybe this will get you all excited:

No worry about forgetting the name of the place while you’re waiting in line… They’ve got 5 Salads, 8 Sandwiches, baked goods and H&H bagels, in addition to a host of coffees slightly cheaper then Starbucks- so if the food isn’t good, at least the coffee is cheaper then Starbucks.  Most of the choices are pretty standard- although the Prosciutto Sandwich with Buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, balsamic dipped tomato and avocado olive tapenade sounded mildly interesting.  And, everything is made to order.  Check it out, and let us know if the Turkey and Swiss Sandwich or the Greek Salad transcend the usual Midtown fare.

Has a new place opened up near you?  Email me about it so I can check it out…

Next week, I’ll finally throw the +/- down on the Daisy May’s BBQ carts, PLUS the Kosher Metro (with Kosher Sushi and a Kosher Salad Bar!!!).  So exciting…

  • This place just opened and I’ve been there everday for either lunch or just a coffee and a few minutes of relaxation. I was surprised by the sandwiches-the Macchiato absolutely blew me away; it has a cheese I’ve never even heard of. Thank god this opened – If I had one more Starbucks coffee or one more cafe metro run-of-the-mill turkey sandwich, I was going to take a job in Jersey just to get some variety.

What really took me by surprise were the people. They weren’t being pretend nice-they were actually sincerely kind and attentive.

I’ve never heard of Macchiato and I’ve lived in NYC for 6 years. Is it a chain?

  • How could you dismiss a place like Macchiatto? I walked in the place on Monday out of curiosity and was immediately blown away by the atmosphere, food, people, and drinks. I’ve already been back there for lunch twice and have brought my friends as well. I’ve had their turkey sandwich (very fresh with a nice combo of swiss cheese on fantastic ciabatta bread), their caesar salad (the grilled chicken was still hot when I ate it and it had just the right amount of dressing, parmesan cheese, and croutons, and the Macchiato sandwich (the Halal (?) cheese blew me away). Also, their drinks were extremely fresh and quenching. This isn’t your normal midtown cafe and I recommend for everyone to try it out.

  • This place rocks. Seriously.

  • The coffee is so much better than starbucks it’s ridiculous. this is some good coffee. good.

  • The place is outstanding…the service is amazing and very attractive as well!
