Cheesy Consumption at Wedge + Fig

Today, MidtownLunch’er Stephanie is reporting on Wedge + Fig’s cheesy selections!

Having relocated to Olde City for work, I found myself situated in the middle of a culinary treasure map of lunch options — Han Dynasty bordering the east, Khyber Pass Pub at the center, and now, Wedge + Fig to the north.

George’s has Big Sandwiches and Big Disappointments

Located in the Italian Market, according to their sign George’s has been selling sandwiches since the 1930’s.  I didn’t dare ask, since everybody behind the counter had the appropriate Italian Market gruffness thing pointed my way. I barely had to withstand the evil eyes for long, my sandwiches were delivered to me quickly. The frill level is real low here, and I am fairly certain thats how everyone likes it.

A Lunch at Chifa Should Come in a Baguette

I had a plan to go to Sampan for lunch with my ladies, but then I realized they stop serving lunch! What a shame, I wanted to get my hands on those banh mi’s. I quickly thought up Chifa as a good alternative. Jose Garces’ Chifa combines Peruvian and Chinese cuisines, and lucky for us they have a lunch menu with some affordable  options. The Express lunch allows you to pick 2 courses for $14, but you can pick just one course instead and fall under the $10 but still be full. A list of smaller dim sum plates are also on the lunch menu.

Korean Sandwiches, Overstuffed Paninis, and All Day Breakfast at Rana Corner Deli

Some friends of mine told me that the little deli on 11th and Spruce called Rana actually made some decent lunch and all-day breakfast sandwiches. In the middle of all the different types of chips, prepackaged dumplings, and many types of teas is  the sandwich counter.
