What is a Pinolshake? (Gluten Free, Healthy Product Alert)

Biking around the Italian Market, I spotted a stand with two men selling something other than the usual random kitchen supplies or cheap produce you normally find in the market. When I checked it out, I found out about a new product I had never heard of before. The Blue Corn Alliance  is a new project that supports farmers in San Mateo Ozolco, a small town in Mexico, by selling their native corn meal product, Pinole,  in Philadelphia.

Free Ice Cream Today

Starting at noon (and going until 5), there will be free ice cream at Reading Terminal to celebrate the birthday of the Cooking Channel.

Wandering Wednesday: Fiery Soft Tofu from Jong Ka Jib

It’s Wednesday, and I am checking out another spot a little more North and East than where I usually dine. Today, its soft tofu for lunch.

Jong Ka Jib is apparently THE place to get hot, bubbly, spicy Korean style soft tofu called soon du boo.  I will admit that generally, I prefer my tofu like I prefer my butts- firm. Could I be swayed otherwise?

Modern Greek Lunch at Opa Was Designed with Summer in Mind

A week ago Opa started serving their new lunch menu and even offered a free lunch to show off the goods. I had only been to Opa for drinks and light snacks and was glad that the lunch menu would allow me to try their food in an affordable way.
