In case you were unable to pay your respects to Prime Burger, which sadly closed its doors over the weekend, you can relive all the old school charm through a video produced by Lost & Found Films. The beautifully shot documentary short focuses on the food and the people who made Prime Burger tick. It was filmed before the announcement of the closing and is even more heart wrenching when you get to meet the employees who have made this place an institution for decades. Eater has confirmed that Prime Burger, the 74 year old Midtown burger mainstay, will close its doors for good tomorrow around 5pm. There is talk about relocation, but we’ve always been of the mindset that Prime Burger is way more about the place itself than the food. So if you want one more chance to feel like you’re back in grade school, while eating a quality burger and onion rings in a Midtown institution, today’s the day! Eater is reporting that Midtown burger veteran Prime Burger will be closing its doors soon. The exact shutter date is unclear (it could be Saturday), so if you’re a big fan of this 74-year-old establishment, you might want to stop by this week. It was always a little too pricey to be one of our favorite burgers, but there is no denying it’s a classic Midtown lunch spot, and we are sad to see it go.

Today, Serious Eats Grand Poobah Ed Levine jumped onto A Hamburger Today to pen a review love letter to Prime Burger, the full of charm old school Midtown burger spot on 51st btw. Mad+5th. It’s kind of surprising, considering that Nick Solares tore the place apart on the very same website when he reviewed the place back in April. In fairness to Nick though he didn’t follow all of the “ordering rules”.

According to Ed, Prime Burger started pre-cooking their burgers to keep up with the fast food burgers spots in Midtown- so if you want the full experience you have to “specify you want your burger made from scratch, and that you’re willing to wait the extra few minutes.” He also says to ask the broiler man to salt the burger before cookingit. Do all this, and according to Ed you’ll end up with “a juicy burger that tastes a lot like a Shake Shack burger.”
