Beacon to Close at the End of the Year

Even though we weren’t completely sold on the sandwiches vended out of Beacon’s Side Door, we were sad to read Flo Fab’s report that Beacon would be closing at the end of the year. The longtime midtown staple, best known for their wood fired steaks and pizzas, will be closing on Dec 29th after failing to reach an agreement with their landlord. We wish Chef Waldy Malouf, his business partners, and his staff the best of luck with their future endeavors.

Beacon’s Side Door Open for Business: Just an FYI... Beacon's Side Door (on 56th btw. 5+6th) is open once again, serving up tasty burgers and pig sandwiches for the hungry summer crowds. We've had some pretty good experiences here in the past, and hopefully this season will be no exception. Welcome back, Side Door!

First Look at Beacon’s Side Door Pig Sandwich

Beacon Side Door

Clearly, all of you were just as excited as we were that Beacon’s Side Door take-out window was reopening yesterday and would be offering a suckling pig sandwich, as the first batch sold out by sometime around noon. As luck would have it, I ended up paying them a visit around 2pm, at which time they had the pork sandwiches back in stock. For $10, you’ll get a suckling pork sandwich on Beacon’s signature onion roll, a side of BBQ sauce, a bag of chips, and a drink.

Beacon’s Side Door Reopens Tomorrow With Suckling Pig!?

Great news from Beacon over the weekend, the upscale restaurant on 56th btw. 5+6th known for their great burgers.  Their “Side Door” take out operation that launched last summer will re-open tomorrow, and in addition to the burger, cobb salad, and fruit salad they had last year, they’ll be adding roast suckling pig sandwiches!?  $10 and it comes with chips and a drink.  11:30am to 2:30pm daily.

Free Booze at Beacon From BE: Today's Blackboard Eats deal is a free bottle of wine with a sit-down lunch or dinner at Beacon (on 56th btw. 5+6th). The deal is no good at the Burger Bar, the regular bar or the side door and requires at least two diners. I've never been, but free booze and the raves about having "one of the best burgers in the city" are enough to make me want to splurge on this one.

Beacon Adds Salad and Cupcakes To “Side Door” Menu

Beacon (on 56th btw. 5+6th) just expanded their “Side Door” take out menu. In addition to their famous Beacon Burger, and the Mr. Pink’s double dog, you can also now get a cobb salad or a vegetable and fruit salad (all are still $10). But more intriguing are the new desserts, including a dark chocolate cupcake with peanut butter brittle for only $2 and four chocolate chip cookies for a buck. Can we officially call Beacon a competitor for the best happy hour AND best lunch deal now?

Beacon’s Side Door Hot Dogs Are Pretty Damn Filling

beaconSidedoor3

Mr Pink in the study with the candlestick. Actually there was no Mr. Pink in the game of Clue, but there is a Mr. Pink’s hot dog in Beacon’s new Sidedoor that we brought to you yesterday. The Side Door has a burger and hot dog on the menu. You’ve already seen the burger (it’s one that’s been approved by Mamacita), so I went by to check out what this hot dog thing was all about.

Beacon Starts Serving Burgers From “Side Door”

We’ve been longtime fans of the Burger Bar at Beacon (on 56th btw. 5+6th) and Mamacita recently enjoyed their bar deal… but it looks like they have finally introduced something that is truly a Midtown Lunch. This week, Beacon started a little lunchtime pop up called “The Side Door”, selling a limited menu- literally from their side door.  For $10 you can get their wood grilled burger with or without cheese plus chips and a soda or bottled water. (The same burger that Mamacita got during happy hour.)

But wait, there’s more…
