A Charitable $1 Slice-o-Rama Downtown: Are you simply not willing to engage in the $1 slice phenomenon? Check out Downtown Lunch's details on Slice Out Hunger, which - while being a downtown event and not during lunch o'clock - is a natural to get amazing pizza at Slice-o-Rama prices. How often can you justify eating pizza as a tax deduction anyway?

Free Salmon Alert: If you like salad and you like salmon (which you probably do if you like salads) you'll want to pay attention to this one.  Both Tri-Tip Grill locations, in Grand Central and in Rock Center, will be offering free salmon on any salad all day today.  Usually that's a $3.99 add on, so even those of us who aren't into salad or salmon have to admit it's a pretty cool deal.

Spot is the New Spot For Dessert in K-town: I happened to be craving desserts in the East Village this weekend and noticed a sign at uber-popular Asian-themed dessert bar Spot. It turns out they have just opened a location on the second floor of Food Gallery 32 in Koreatown. The new location has been open since Wednesday, but the grand opening will be this coming Saturday. They're not doing all the same dessert tapas as downtown, but still look for their unique pastries and ice creams.

Certe’s October Specials Begin Tomorrow: It's October, which means Certe and Pizza by Certe are launching their monthly specials. Tomorrow look for the "Autumn Sprouts" pizza, which includes butternut squash fondue, roasted baby Brussels sprouts, nitrate-free pancetta and fresh mozzarella. The October sandwich is a bit meatier. The "Two Balls" sandwich is actually two meatball sliders and will run you $8.95. One is a Parmesan meatball slider, and the other a spinach knish meatball slider.

Today is Burger Joint’s 10th Birthday Party: Just a friendly reminder... today is the big day for Burger Joint fans.  They are celebrating 10 years of being hidden in Le Parker Meridien Hotel (on 56th btw. 6+7th) by rolling back prices to opening day.  That means $4 burgers, $4.50 cheeseburgers, $1.25 french fries, and $2 Sam Adams on tap- plus they’re going to be selling and giving away special limited edition 10 year anniversary t-shirts. Doors open at 11am!

Cosi on 42nd is Closed: If you work near Bryant Park and have a hankering for flatbread sandwiches we've got some bad news. The Cosi on 42nd btw. 5+6th has closed. No word on what will be taking its place, but the signs direct you to visit one of their other locations. It's been awhile since we event mentioned these guys. Is this a sign that the flatbread sandwich empire is collapsing, or maybe just this location?

Talking Like A Pirate Gets You Free Krispy Kreme Tomorrow: Shiver me timbers! Tomorrow is talk like a pirate day, and to celebrate, Krispy Kreme is giving away a free glazed doughnut to anyone at a participating location (hello, Penn Plaza!) that talks like a pirate to the staff. If you go a step (or a few steps, really) further and fully dress up like a buccaneer, a dozen glazed doughnuts will be yours. Try explaining that one to your boss.
