Gangnam Style Cart is AWOL Already: Gangnam Style? More like GONEgnam Style. The cart recently reported by Luncher Tom and documented by our own Brian Hoffman was nowhere to be found yesterday either at 32nd or 35th and Madison. Is this a harbinger of Gangnam Style itself falling out of memetic favor? Anyone seen the cart? Keep your eyes peeled - we'll give it a proper review once it shows!

King of Falafel is Back: Freddie the King of Falafel (who has a cart in Midtown on 53rd & Park) had his vacation extended a bit by Sandy, but he's back today and ready to serve.  Also on the ML Twitter Tracker...Uncle Gussy's is on 51st & Park, Domo Taco is on 47th & Park, Bian Dang is on 50th btw. 6+7th, Bob & Jo is on 46th btw. 5+6th, and you can track the whereabouts of a whole host of other trucks still heading out to neighborhoods that have been effected by Sandy.

Welcome Back: Just like you, we here at Midtown Lunch are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy. We're hope that you are all safe and dry and in one piece. If you've been affected by the storm, please know that you are in our thoughts. With all that's been going on, we haven't been eating around Midtown so much in the last week, so it may take a few days to get back up and running fully, but we hope to be there soon.

Drink at Ma Peche For the Red Cross: No Happy Hour post for this week, but here'a little tidbit for those of you still in Midtown after work today... not only is Ma Peche (aka Momofuku Midtown on 56th btw. 5+6th) donating today's proceeds from lunch and dinner to the Red Cross, from 5pm to close they will serve Booker & Dax cocktails at the bar, also to benefit the Red Cross.

Hunkering Down For Hurricane Sandy: Midtown Lunch readers, I hope you have all hit the liquor stores and other important places to prepare for Hurricane Sandy. Since mandatory evacuations have been ordered in some areas, and transportation is shut down, most offices will be closed on Monday. We will not be reporting today, but we will be back with you as soon as possible! The ML Team hopes all of our readers, restaurant and bar owners, food truck vendors, and others remain safe throughout the storm.

Free Hot Chocolate Alert: Speaking of 'wichcraft, tomorrow (Thursday 10/25) they'll be switching their Byrant Park ice cream kiosk over to hot chocolate for the winter (in four flavors: classic, malt, spiced, or orange.) And to celebrate they'll be giving out free 4oz samples of hot chocolate from 2-4pm.  The hot chocolate itself will be available for purchase at all 'wichcraft locations starting tomorrow, but freeloaders will want to hit up the Bryant Park kiosk from 2-4pm.

Our Heros Truck Is Off the Road Temporarily: Andrea over at Downtown Lunch is reporting that Our Heros Truck is off the road, letting fans know by tweet last night. Details as to why are scarce at this point, but those who enjoyed their sliders and huge sandwiches, like Brian did back in June are sure to mourn the news. No word yet as to the fate of their slider cart. UPDATE: The cart is actually still on the street, and the truck will be back once they find a replacement manager.

Taam Tov is Back Open After Brief DOH Closure: Yesterday DNAinfo reported just before lunchtime that Kosher Uzbeki restaurant and Midtown Lunch classic Taam Tov (on 47th btw. 5th + 6th) was shuttered by the DOH. At 55 points, this inspection was less serious than others they've weathered and fans will be glad to know that by the time we stopped by yesterday afternoon they had already reopened. Routine!

Flatiron Fun: $1 burgers at Schnipper’s: If you're one of our Flatiron Lunch readers, you might want to hit up Schnipper's today. To celebrate the 1st anniversary of their 23rd St. location, Schnipper's Quality Kitchen is serving $1 hamburgers and cheeseburgers all day long, and hipsterbrews PBRs for $1 after five. Near-freeloaders, adjust your black-frame glasses and engage! Sadly the deal is only at the 23rd street location...

Cheesy Free Stuff from Sweetery: Does Sweetery ever sell anything from their truck? I feel like they're always teamed up with some food company giving away free samples. Better news for us, really. From now until October 30, they'll be giving out free cheese samples from Castello Cheese. Three samples will be offered, including Weissbier (doesn't that mean wheat beer?), Bergkase, and Hirten so check their location on Twitter (today they're at 50th bw 6th and 7th) so go and get your free cheese!
