Lunch, Brunch, French Toast and Bacon Muffins, and the Contender for City’s Best Sweet Potato Fries at Green Eggs Cafe

Green Eggs Cafe has 3 Philly locations. The menu has a zested up version of lunch and brunch with fun things like red velvet pancakes.  I tried 2 sandwiches from the savory menu and found some big pluses and big minuses. I also had to indulge in their crazy muffins…

The chicken salad sandwich ($9) came recommended. The onion poppy roll was perfect for holding the raisin flecked, moist chicken salad. I chose tomato soup as my side, but the taste and texture reminded me more of tomato sauce then soup.

The better side is the sweet potato fries. These are actually spectacular, some if the best in the city. These accompanied an italian panini ($10) with a tasty aioli. The flaw here is that the prosciutto was not the best, it was tough and hard to chew- not ideal for a sandwich.  Also note, the cup of ketchup is the tiniest in the world. Kind of amusing, but not practical.

Green Eggs Cafe makes new crazy muffins about every other week. The fun part is never knowing what creation the chef will come up with. The bad part is that your favorite muffin with be taken off rotation and unavailable to you. I tried the french toast and bacon muffin, presented with whipped cream and maple syrup.
