Pork on Pork, The Castro Sandwich at The Wishing Well
The Wishing Well is a cute pub sitting on the corner of 9th and Catherine. The inviting outdoor seating reeled me in. Its a good things the menu isn’t too long because there is also the whole draft list to choose from.
The Castro sandwich, a fancy version of the traditional Cuban sandwich (get it), is filled with things that are pleasing to me: roasted pork, tasso, swiss, and pickles on a roll with mustard. It was an amazing sandwich; smokey, porky, and cheesy with a little acid from the pickles. This guy definitely costs more than I normally spend on a sandwich ($13) but it is extremely filling and comes with a choice of a side. I saw the giant onion rings pass by and chose them. Unfortunately they looked better than they tasted as they were very doughy.
The fancy, juicy Bleu Burger comes with a few crumbles of high quality bleu cheese, thick bacon, and caramelized onions on a biroche bun. A little much at $14, but at least all elements were on point. THE + (What somebody who likes this place would say)

I’ve been working too much. This post is way too old to not have a Terence Trent D’Arby reference.
