Little Italy Pizza For that Simple Slice
Sometimes I really really need a plain slice of pizzeria style pizza. Back when I was on my pizza kick in April 2010, I loved the fancy goat cheese pizza at Slice, but NYPD Pizza ended up being the only source of that simple slice I crave now and again. After reading about Little Italy pizza in Philly Mag’s pizza edition, I was hoping I had another option. A regular slice here is $2.25 and that’s all I wanted.
The crust is on the thin side and has a satisfying mild crunch to it. The cheese and sauce are actually mixed up properly (that coagulation thing I obsess about). I could have used a little more sauce flavor, but adding some garlic powder and oregano take care of that for the most part. I approve of this no frills slice. I welcome any and all suggestions of your simple slice favorites.

My go-to simple-slice places are Joe’s at 16th and Sansom, and Dolce Carini at 20th and Chestnut.
