Charity Truck Bringing Little Dom’s to Mid Wilshire Today: Today the Cart for a Cause Truck will be parked at 5700 Wilshire from Noon to 2pm serving spaghetti and meatballs, a tomato and burrata bruschetta, and a brisket sandwich made by Chef Brandon Boudet from Little Dom's in Los Feliz.  You get an entree, plus dessert, plus a drink for $10 and the money goes to charity.  Do it.  Do it.

Don’t Snooze on Cart For A Cause: Noooo!  Cart for a Cause is on 5700 Wilshire today, but they're not doing a reprise of last week's porchetta sandwich from Sal Marino. So bummed.  Lesson learned... clearly I need to hit up Cart for a Cause every week! Today from Noon to 2pm $10 will get you this lunch from Joe Miller at Bar Pinxto (and as always all proceeds benefit St Vincent Meals on Wheels.)

STREET Goes Mobile Today in Hollywood: Cart For a Cause will be in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater today from Noon to 2pm with Susan Feniger's STREET serving a top secret menu.  The one thing we do know... lunch will be $10, it goes to benefit City Meals on Wheels, and you'll get a cookie, pistachios and a drink along with whatever it is that Susan is making.  [via Twitter]

Mid Wilshire Gets a Shot at Lazy Ox Canteen Today

DSC07350

If you missed Downtown Chef Josef Centeno (from the very awesome Lazy Ox Canteen) aboard the Cart For a Cause Truck last week in Santa Monica, you’ve got another shot at it today. The truck will be parked at 5900 Wilshire today from 11:30 am to 1:30pm, and it looks like he’ll once again be serving up his signature “baco” – a self proclaimed hybrid of a taco and flatbread (although we thought of it more as a Chinese bun “sandwich”, made with flatbread instead of bao.) You get one of those plus a cookie, pistachios and a drink- all for $10! And it benefits City Meals on Wheels. Still not convinced this is the place to be for lunch today? Check out the baco porn, after the jump…

Leftover Fried Chicken Sandwiches (From Animal!) Are An Embarrassment to Us All

DSC07026
What are you thinking about? Just do it!

After 4 years living in NYC, I was super excited to move back to L.A. The Midtown Lunch’ish food here is out of control good, and I think “The Guru” was right to call this the best place in the world to eat right now in Saveur (sorry, contrarian guy from the Jewish Journal.) There is nothing wrong with the food scene in this city… it’s amazing. But I wish I could say the same for the people! (Not you of course. I’m talking about your boring co-worker who would rather eat at a salad for lunch than a fried chicken sandwich.)

Case in point: Yesterday Cart for a Cause, the food truck that hits the street every Tuesday with a $10 lunch made by a celebrity chef to benefit Meals on Wheels, was in front of the Pacific Design Center (on San Vicente and Melrose). The $10 lunch? An out of control good, unbelievably huge, fried chicken sandwich served with corn on the cob, a cookie, and a drink by the boys from Animal- Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo.

Check it out after the jump…
