Sabor de Mexico’s Fajitas Are Basically A Burrito

Earlier this year I checked out Sabor de Mexico on Trinity Place (at Thames) back when it was Caliente Mexican Grill. I’m not sure why they changed the name, but they were serving a decent burrito and some Americanized tacos at a price comparable to their closest comparison, Chipotle. I was mostly impressed by the fact that the sauces and everything seemed to be made from scratch although I could be wrong about that. Since I never went back after that initial visit I figured I would check in and see if they’d added anything to the menu and if the quality had changed (it did).

Mystery Solved: Caliente Mexican Grill Is Now Sabor De Mexico

I was a little bit excited when someone posted in the forums asking if anyone had eaten at a place called Sabor de Mexico on Trinity Place. Was it a restaurant? A cart? A truck? One early adopter didn’t have the best feedback on lunch there, but I forged ahead anyway with a co-luncher to see whether they were cooking anything authentic. Read more »

Caliente Mexican Takes Over Soupman Space

I’m not quite sure why there are so many Mexican places opening in the Financial District all of a sudden, but we’ll take it! A chainy-looking place called Caliente Mexican Grill has opened on the corner of Trinity Place and Thames, where there used to be an Original Soupman outpost. A sign touting their grand opening said they serve burritos, tacos, etc. Anybody eaten here? If so give us your take on the food in the comments.
