Reminder: Epicurious “Ultimate NYC Lunch Break” Is Tomorrow: If you haven't bought your tickets for tomorrow's lunchtime smorgasbord in Soho featuring places like Porchetta, Asia Dog, Sigmund Pretzel Shop, and a personal favorite, Mimi's Hummus, you still can. There's an early or late lunch option for $35, and tickets are still available.

Chickpea Officially Opened, In Case You Can’t Tell: I guess this only helps the late lunch'ers out there, but Chickpea  on John (nr. William) is officially open, which is hard to tell from the tiny sign they have up for a free hummus tasting. I was lured in by the promise of free food, only to find it's full on up and running. The shawafel sandwich I had (full report in the future) was good, and if anyone else ate there give your first impressions in the comments.

Tokyo Kitchen Shuttered?: The question has been asked in the forums whether Tokyo Kitchen, the grungy Japanese spot on John (btw. B'way & Nassau) has been shuttered, or is just under renovation. Lunch'er Bobblabla saw someone in a hard hat taking stuff out of the place. Anyone know what's going on with this place?

Get Some Atomic Wings For Half Off: There's a deal through Yipit today for 52% off Atomic Wings at all their locations, including the one on Broadway (btw. Duane & Reade). For $12 you can get $25 worth of food, which sounds like heartburn waiting to happen.

Downtown Happy Hour Is Happening Wednesday: Do you enjoy Bon Chon chicken and an alcoholic beverage after work? Well, head to the Bon Chon on John St. (btw. Cliff & Pearl) starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday for a little happy hour action and possibly a spirited discussion of where exactly the best street meat can be found. Find more info in the forums.

Tickets On Sale For “Ultimate Lunch Break”: This is pretty cool: An event by food Web site Epicurious in a few weeks will have a smorgasbord lunch in Soho on Sept. 30 featuring eight eateries that are mostly from Brooklyn and the East Village. Tickets are $35 for early and late lunches. Seriously, Pies 'N' Thighs, Porchetta and Mimi's Hummus for lunch!?!

Souvlaki Truck Now Prowling The Streets: There's a new Greek food purveyor called the Souvlaki Truck in town, and it sounds like they could be hitting downtown before braving midtown. Sounds like they're doing a slow launch, and could show up anywhere this week, so look for their location on Twitter. If anyone sees them out and about, or samples the souvlaki and fries, let us know.
