PROFILE: Downtown Lunch’er “Jennifer”

As is customary here on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we’ll profile a different lunch’er and get their recommendations for places to eat in Downtown NYC. This week, we have lunch’er Jennifer who will eat pretty much everything and is jealous of a certain area of the city that is a food truck magnet.

Where you work: Wall St.

Age: 26

Favorite Kinds of Food: When it comes to food I’ll eat just about anything once to try it.  As for a favorite it would defintely have to be anything sweet.

Least Favorite Foods: Anything overly spicy, whether it’s spicy hot or just has too much spice in general.

Favorite Lunches Downtown: Cheese enchiladas from Tajin on Greenwich (btw. Edgar & Rector), the daily special or chicken tempura roll from Niko Niko on Pearl (btw. Wall & Pine), lamb over rice with chickpeas and white sauce from Xpress Power Lunch on Wall & Pearl, bruschetta slice from Da Vinci’s on Water (btw. Broad & William), and the Caesar salad with cranberries substituted for croutons from Just Salad on Maiden Lane (btw. Gold & Pearl).

The “go-to” lunch place you and your co-workers eat at too often: I try to not go to the same place more than once a week, but my fall back for when I don’t know where to have lunch is usually Niko Niko.

Places downtown you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch: Schnitzel & Things Truck, Tajin, Mexicue Truck, Shanghai Cafe on Mott (btw. Canal & Hester), Baoguette on Maiden Lane (btw. Broadway & Nassau), Nicky’s Vietnamese Sandwiches on Nassau (at Ann),Urban Lobster Shack on Stone St. (btw. Broad & Broadway), and the Korilla BBQ Truck, just to name a few.

Dream job location, purely for lunch purposes, and why: I actually find it enjoyable where I currently work for finding my lunch needs.  If anything I’d say maybe a bit more midtown since they seem to have the attention of all the food trucks as of late.

Anything you’d like to ask the downtown Midtown Lunch readers?: I’ve been having a real craving for tamales as of late, but haven’t really found a decent place that has them.  Any suggestions?

I’m pretty sure The Bigger Place on W. Broadway & Warren has tamales, although I can’t vouch for the quality of them.
