Inspiring Others to (Disgusting) Greatness. Kool Aid Pickle Anybody?
It’s always nice to learn that you’ve inspired others to harm their body with food. Apparently my piece on Serious Eats about DJ Grocery’s General Tso’s Philly Cheesesteak, inspired the DJ to set up his own food blog. And while I can’t take credit for his eating (he clearly was doing this long before I wrote about him), I’m glad I inspired him to share his ridiculous creations with the world.
The site already boasts a plethora of amazing creations, like the kool aid pickle (”these bitches sat in the modified brine for over 4 weeks”), bacon ice cream, jalapeno/bacon infused vodka, pulled pork pancakes, a “meat house”, and beer battered deep fried white castle burgers.
His latest post could be a Midtown Lunch, involving 1 big mac, and 3 chicken sandwiches. DJ Grocery’s Big MacChicken, after the jump…

Wow. Check out how he constructed it here. The aftermath isn’t pretty, but don’t let that discourage you!
DJ Grocery, you are my new hero. Hollah!

My god. His blog is so very full of awesomeness. FYI chocolate and bacon go amazingly well together. Bacon-Chocolate ice cream? Hells yes when I order the ice cream attachment for my KitchenAid!

Not exactly in the same league as some of that stuff, but ….
I once made a grilled cheese & bacon, covered it with chili, topped with a slice of cheese and a fried egg! Yum!

Zap, I think I did basically the same thing when I was 16 and stoned and home alone. I’m going to guess DJ Grocery smokes a lot b/c only in that state would you decide eating such things was a good idea.

to bacon/choco lovers out there — in Ukraine they have chocolate covered salo, which is salt cured pork belly (mostly pure fat)

I just found that blog earlier this week and I love it. The pulled-pork pancakes actually look good.

Thanks guys. I’m still recovering from that sandwich.

I love that grocery eats blog; does anyone have links to other blogs with similar stuff, e.g., not pretty and dainty food but some serious munchies-curing food + pix? oh, and if ya’ll like this, I love the site PimpThatSnack.com; something along those lines is what i’m looking for.
