Lunch’er Steve Reports: Trini Paki Cart Now Serving Jerk Chicken
Thanks to Lunch’er Steve for passing along this bit of news… Recently the Trini Paki Boys Cart (on 43rd btw. 5+6th) started serving jerk chicken on Mondays and Tuesdays and the special has become so popular they are now selling it on Wednesdays as well. The TPB Cart has always had some great (albeit sporadic) daily specials, but this one is sounding especially good. Check out Steve’s full report, after the jump…
Perhaps to some purists this jerk might suffer slightly in comparison to the Duchy and Jerk Pan versions. This one is slightly less crispy because it has been luxuriating in sweet spicy sauce since coming off the grill. As with all Trini Paki productions, the spice is right up front, but the smoke and allspice come through too. I asked for extra hot sauce and the dish really clobbered me, making my head swim for the first couple bites. The complexity and brutality of the dish makes this a holistic gustatory treat.
They’ll offer salad, but it’s always best here to ask for extra veggies instead – these include nicely spiced chick peas and cabbage. The $4 small size I got (because they were running out) was too small. I would suggest the $5 size instead of the coma-inducing $6 plate. This goes directly into my rotation.

Had the jerk chicken over rice from Trini Paki Cart after reading this. The jerk sauce/spice was pretty good and the chicken was well cooked. Definitely worth a try but I still like their regular chicken over rice better.

I love both jerk chicken and the Trini-Pak cart so I had to try this. They were offering boneless jerk chicken, so I got that. The jerk sauce had more of a barbeque flavor to it, which is not my favorite style of jerk but it was still really good. I will definitely get this again.
