Does “Dinges” Include Pulled Pork?

From the Wafels and Dinges Truck’s twitter this morning: “We’re on 45th between 6th and 7th today. Today we have a LUNCH SPECIAL: Smoked Pulled Pork BBQ on a waffle with coleslaw and sweet BBQ sauce.”  Oh yeah? That could be interesting.  Photos and/or reports from anybody who tried this are completely encouraged.

  • Aww… I just had lunch! Otherwise I’d be all over those pork dinges.

  • Wow, move over fried chicken! This sounds so good!

  • Wow – Pulled pork & slaw would be my 2nd favorite thing of all time to eat with a waffle

  • i used to love the waffle truck. LOVE IT. it’s delicious! but then someone said, “it’s so expensive that it’s offensive.” and now every time i pass by the waffle truck, i feel angry. and i don’t buy waffles from them anymore.

but i still think it is delicious and if they went for 2.50 i would stop being angry and i would start buying them again.

i recently got angry at a box of whole foods organic blueberry waffles because there were only six waffles inside of it!!! what is the point!!! if you’re going to make me go to the grocery store, interact with a human cashier, take a frozen item home in a timely fashion so that it does not melt, open the box, wrestle with the plastic bag inside until it rips open… at least make it so that i can get a couple of breakfasts out of it instead of 1.5!!!

  • I saw this on their Twitter earlier today, started salivating, and almost automatically headed out the door to give myself some food therapy after an already long day. But alas, I remembered the emptiness of my wallet and got my usual soup special instead. But your post has brought the sadness back. Sigh. Sadness. Sigh.

  • Halfway thru my porky waffle I realized that I should’ve taken a photo for ya Zach…. apologies.

Eaten individually, the components weren’t great. However, getting a bit of everything into the bite made for a pretty tasty sweet and savory lunch. At $8, I probably wouldn’t make a habit of these but they’re fun – esp the koolaid pickles.

  • Kool-aid pickles? wtf?

  • they tasted like homemade bread and butter pickles, but with red koolaid in the brine?

  • Koolaid pickles are bigger than cousin love in the south..

  • I was below the Mason Dixon for about 8 years, and I’ve had everything from fried snickers bars to sauteed alligator w/ okra. But I’ve never heard of Kool-Aid Pickles. Thinking about it though, I guess the sweet and sour thing can work out though.

  • yeah, 22 years down south – never heard of a koolaid pickle…

    maybe south belgium?

  • I’ve seen Koolaid pickles at more than one barbecue joint.

Frankly, I don’t get it because nothing tops a Kosher dill. The South knows their barbecue, but they should leave the pickles to the Chosen People.
