Other Things I Ate This Week: Lamb Shack

*new weekly feature for 2016: brief photo recaps + not always lunch

This week, I ate spicy thai salad pocky and uncooked ramen “snack” and made a gorgeous ceviche with mango, green apple, red onion, cilantro, and avocado and scallops from Ippolitto’s.

I also had the pleasure of dining at Zahav for their February “Lamb Shack” multi course prix fixe- you have a few days left to get some for yourself! (Though you can still enjoy it for $10 more any other month) Lighting was low, hence the picture of the lamb from my Zahav cookbook. Besides the lamb, highlights for me were the eggplant, beet salad, brussel sprout tabbouleh, steak skewers, and sweetbreads.

There is a counter to eat at and a list of sandwiches that are mostly rifts on comfort food.

*new weekly feature for 2016: brief photo recaps + not lunch

This week, a post Chinese New Year’s dinner brought us to Ting Wong, where the dishes were spot on. I ordered the classics: wonton soup, chicken congee, fried dumplings, snow pea greens, beef chow fun, spicy fish fillet, stuffed tofu, and a Peking Duck, whose crispy skin and fluffy buns were a stand out.

Indonesian Noodles with a Side of Soup and a Chocolate Nutella Grilled Cheese from Lil Java

Lil Java impressed me over the summer with its Indonesian soups and chaotic appetizers. I didn’t get to try all the things on the small menu that day. In fact, one item in particular I purposely skipped- a grilled cheese topped with nutella and chocolate sauce. And that would be American cheese. Would I be brave enough to order it on my return trip?
