Flatiron News: Gyro King and Baconery Get Replaced by Fava and Birdbath

Here’s a bit of Flatiron Lunch news before we lay this week’s review on you…

Flatiron Luncher Cindyninja recently commented on my write-up about Gyro King that it closed and was replaced by Fava. I finally had the chance to walk by to see with my own eyes and sure enough… Fava. They said they have been at this location for about a month (about when my FL about Gyro King posted) having moved an avenue over from their previous location on Lexington. They didn’t do any major renovations but have managed to update the signage.

My phone died as I was trying to take a photo of the location, but I did manage to take home this menu. I can tell you the prices are very reasonable, with a $4.99 daily specials.

Zach recently brought to my attention that Baconery is not available in Books of Wonder anymore (but you can go visit them at 105 and Columbus or get chocolate covered bacon at Cafe Duke on 51st.) I went to see what replaced Baconery but was disappointed that it was just a Birdbath Bakery. I mean, I like Birdbath and Pretzel Croissants, but considering their mothership, City Bakery, is across the street, what is the point?
