Free Food Fail: Schnipper’s Quality Kitchen is Open?

Sent to the ML Inbox at 2pm: “Schnippers in the NY times building is giving away all items for free.  Place is mobbed.”  Call to the restaurant and confirmed… “It wasn’t a promotion, we were testing the kitchen out” by giving away free food to anyone who walked in.  It lasted until 2pm. That’s interesting… the owner didn’t mention anything to me two days ago when he sent over the menu.  Why would they want to deny Midtown Lunch readers the opportunity to “test out the kitchen”.  Don’t they know how angry we get when we are denied free food?!?  Anybody luck into this one today?  How was it?

Also confirmed over the phone: Schnipper’s will officially be open to the public tomorrow (Friday) at 11 a.m.

  • With a name like Schnipper…Shoulda been a jewish Barber.

  • I ordered the Mac & Joe for over $7. It came in a small soup container and it was filled halfway.

    THIS PLACE IS A RIP-OFF.

  • Just went there too. It’s price is probably avg for midtown and the burger is enjoyable but not amazing. They don’t ask you how you want it cooked, but it doesn’t matter. The patty is thin so medium rare would be close to impossible.

The ordering line was kind of a madhouse while the dining area was alright. You could find seats.

It’s way early but I think they’ll stick around. They are in a prime spot, across the street from Port Authority. But it’s kinda weird when a milk shake costs as much as a burger… Still prefer a shack burger though. If the Shack could ever get a space as big as this? oh man.. i gotta stop dreaming.

  • Line a madhouse? Not surprising if this place is from the Hale & Hardy folks where the lines are chaos, the staff are clueless and – talk about insane – they make you wait in line twice, once to order, once to pay

I won’t go back for that reason alone and if I do I’m skipping the pay part
