We Have a Date for the 2013 Philly Vendy Awards

This year it is going to be Saturday, June 8th, at Penn Treaty Park. The Vendy Awards are a food truck competition benefiting The Food Trust. It should be a great day. Who do you want to see there?

Mobile Food Events in February

On Saturday, February 23 the Philadelphia Mobile Food Association is having another winter Food Truck Round Up at the Piazza. (If you went to the last one in December you would know the lines moves fast and we were able to try food from trucks that were brand new to Philly). This time Spodee wine is sponsoring- each of the 8 trucks will offer a FREE small appetizer using Spodee. To keep warm, King’s Oak is allowing us to bring the truck food inside their bar. Vote for your favorite Spodee bite at King’s Oak and each vote counts as a raffle to win an alcoholic gift bag from the folks behind Spodee.

And before that, coming up on February 16th is an event relevant to anyone who owns a mobile food business in Philadelphia or anyone thinking about starting one. The UPenn Law School Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic is hosting a day full of informative seminars on the biz, including how to protect your unique menu items and how to manage local regulations. During lunch time, the Philadelphia Mobile Food Association is having its 2013 kick off meeting for all current and prospective members. I hear that a food truck lunch may be free to those who RSVP.

Taste of Philly 2012 Recap

Last night I attended the Phila Weekly Taste of Philly event.  It seems like there were a few less participants and more attendees this year so the lines were longer and the alcohol ran out before it was over, but the DJ was awesome and I left full and introduced to a few new places around the city.

Pop Up Food Truck Event in City Hall Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, for the first time ever, food trucks will be serving inside the courtyard at City Hall. Get lunch from The Mini Trini, Street Food, The Tamale Truck, and Jimmie’s Cupcakes. Each truck will be offering at least one healthy dish in addition to the rest of their menu in honor of National Food Day. Also for National Food Day, bring in canned goods and receive 10% off your meal.

I have been meaning to try the food from Street Food, so I will definetely be there!
