Spruce Street Harbor Big Name Concessions

This year, Garces, Federal Donuts, and a few others are manning the concessions at Spruce Street Harbor. Now in its 2nd year, this popular hang out spot for people of all ages brought in new menus but kept the hammocks and colorful lights.

While Garces’ Chifa closed in 2013, the Peruvian-Chinese concept is back, with a station right on the floating barge. I tried the crab banh mi that was offered as a special, recalling fondly the pork belly banh mi and sausage banh mi I enjoyed when the restaurant still existed. Unfortunately, this version was more expensive, contained less flavor, and less protein than what I had a few years back. From what I saw on other plates, the portions generally are quite small for the prices.

The chicken sandwich from Port FedNuts isn’t huge either, but it is definitely filling. As the only savory option, your choice is easy- ranch seasoned chicken on a roll with American cheese and pickles. As has come to be expected from Federal Donuts chicken, the buttermilk ranch flavor is bold.  The thick, white meat dominates with the hint of pickle and cheese along for the ride.

Where do you go to eat when you are lounging at Spruce Street Harbor? Distrito tacos? Ice cream? Or do you just bring your own (a High Street picnic is not a bad idea) Check out the rest of the menus here.
