Mexican Inspired Brunch Food for Lunch at Cafe con Chocolate

Cafe con Chocolate is a brightly covered cafe open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner down on 21st and Snyder. The menu has something for everyone; juices, coffee drinks, eggs, and the part that tempted me- Mexican food.
Tortilla soup was one of the specials. This was the one dish that best showcase the kitchen’s potential. The layered flavors of the broth tasted like someone put some love in to it.
The steak tacos were on the dry side ($8). These were more expensive and not as good as some of Philly’s more basic Mexican joints.
A breakfast burrito with chorizo, eggs, beans, and cheese was simple, filling, and tasty($8.50).
While the cute ambiance was a plus, the service was a big negative. One would expect that at a kind of homey cafe the service would be stellar. While the lady running the place was very sweet, her waitressing duties left much to be desired. We got one of our entrees 15 before all the others and one of my friends asked for an omelette without cheese, and it was filled in it.
If you live near Cafe con Chocolate and want to lounge for a while, I would say go for it, otherwise I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.
