Asian Fusion Tacos from Stix Eatery

Stix Eatery opened quietly a few months ago on 12th and Fitzwater- kind of a no mans land for eating. It operates as a cafe (bubble tea included) and Asian fusion restaurant. The Grand Opening sign was still up, and thats what caught my eye as I biked by. Peeking at the menu I noticed Asian tacos and wings, which were enough reason to stop for lunch.

Wings come naked or with buffalo, Asian BBQ, Garlic Parm, or “bang bang” sauce. I got an order of 6 ($4.25) with 3 bang bang, because the name is cool,  and 3 garlic parm, after the waiter told us they were his favorite. The bang bang were kind of sweet and sour, but I preferred the garlic parm because they were really crispy. The wings generally had a good amount of tender meat on them.

Garlic fries ($2.25) are simple, but the garlic tufts and sriracha ketchup made it less boring.

I was pretty pleased with my large tilapia taco ($5.75). There was one big piece of fried fish inside the tortilla. The plate comes with either mango salsa or coconut curry, but I got both. The mango salsa tasted off, but the coconut curry  was delicious- make sure you get it. A bit of  slaw on the side was a nice addition.

My friend’s garlic eggplant was just ok, but I was happy enough with my taco to go back.   am still curious about the rest of the menu, specifically the bulgogi taco and even whackier- the cheesesteak banh mi.
