Create a Healthy Sandwich and Dip it at Eat- A- Pita

This weekend Eat A Pita opened on 12th street in the spot that once formerly housed Glatt Delight. Inside is a classic fast food set up with the counter of sandwich add ins behind glass leading to the cash register, however the hand written menus give it a more homey feel. The acoustics are a little tricky, I felt like I had to shout my order. They were out of rotisserie chicken, so I had to adjust my game plan.

Instead I made my own sandwich ($8) with the house  roasted turkey on white pita with most of the fixings (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrot, cabbage, scallions sprouts), leaving out bell pepper and chick peas. The turkey was moist and all the other ingredients seemed pretty fresh. It wasn’t a huge sandwich, rather it was a good size for a healthy lunch.

Choosing the “pour”, the sauce on the side, was tricky. I had my eye on the charred tomato vinaigrette and the owner confirmed it was a favorite of hers. The bright, tangy sauce was definitely  a highlight. After I made my personalized pita I noticed the spit with shawarma on it that looked really really fabulous, that will be my order next time.
