Checking out the “More” at More than Just Ice Cream

Besides serving Bassetts ice cream and giant cake slices, More than Just Ice Cream has a full lunch and dinner menu. The ice cream is served when you walk in, and dining seating is to your left by the open kitchen, including some cozy pillowed bench arrangements.

The lunch menu has a selection of salads and sandwiches, and they sure love grilling things here: grilled, cheese, grilled tuna, grilled steak, grilled chicken, grilled portobello, grilled tofu… Another thing to note is that a lot of the sandwich options are standard, but with some weird random twist, this will be explained after the jump.

As for combo deals, there are 2 levels of lunch specials. You can get a grilled cheese or blt with a side for around $8. But I went for the first class combo, a choice from a wider sandwich selection with a side and a drink for $10.

My sandwich was the chicken salad- and here is the twist- with grapes. I guess its been done, it isn’t as weird as the turkey burger as you will see in a moment, but I prefer my chicken salad with the dried version, a.k.a. raisins. The chicken was in big hearty chunks and topped with lettuce and tomato. I ordered my sandwich on toasted honey wheat bread, with a fresh side salad, and an iced tea. A wedge of orange was also provided.  The whole meal was fine but was this a great deal for $10? No way!

As for that turkey burger, well, it was topped with hummus and cranberry sauce… What?? Neither flavor was too strong, the hummus added a touch of garlic flavor and the cranberry added some sweetness. The patty definitely tasted of turkey, overall a decent burger, but there are better options for $10.

  • Healthy dining options
  • Dessert is just a few steps away

THE – (What somebody who doesn’t like this place would say)

  • Not the best bang for your buck
  • Some of the ingredient combinations are plain weird
