PROFILE: L.A. Lunch’er “Sunny”

As is customary on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we profile a random reader to get their recommendations for the best spots to lunch near their work. This week it’s Sunny, a Mid-Wilshire marketing person who loves Japanese food but hates Chinese!?

Name: Sunny

Age: 27

Occupation: Marketing

Where in L.A. do you Work?: Academy of Couture Art (Miracle Mile, CA)

Favorite Kind of Food: Japanese

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Chinese

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch: Noshi Sushi for halibut, uni, scallop, and sweet shrimp, Umami Burger (850 S. La Brea) for their truffle burger, and Andre’s Italian Restaurant (6332 W. 3rd St) for small spaghetti w/ all three sauces and extra garlic bread.

The “goto” lunch place you and your co-workers eat at too often? Noshi Sushi, Five Guys (5550 Wilshire Blvd.), Andre’s Italian Restaurant, and Chipotle

Place You Heard of Thanks to Midtown Lunch: Hwal Uh Kwang Jang (730 S. Western)

The farthest place you’ll drive for lunch on a normal day? As long as I can get back to work in an hour and the place is good I don’t care how far it is

Dream job location (anywhere in the world), purely for lunch purposes, and why? Japan. So I can eat the best sushi, soba noodles, and ramen for lunch all day everyday

Got a question for the Midtown Lunch readers? Any good restaurants near Miracle Mile that you would recommend?

If you love Japanese food, I’m guessing your happy about the opening of the new branch of Ramen Jinya on Wilshire. And for those days you don’t feel like trekking to K-Town I like Genki Grill as a nice Miracle Mile lunch option. Got your own rec for Sunny? Put it in the comments. And, as always if you want to be next week’s Profiled: L.A. Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d want to nominate), email me- zach@midtownlunch.com.
