I gotta say, I was really disappointed by 800 degrees. As their signs suggest, I asked for my pizza “crispy” because I don’t like the traditional Neapolitan soggy center. Despite being way over-charred on one side, the pie was still soggy! I suppose it’s a good thing it was because the char was the only flavor on the gummy crust.
I think the problem is you have to have a skilled pizzaiolo manning the oven, particularly one as hot as they have at 800 Degrees. Yes, their pizzas are cheap, but you pay for what you get. I really hope Antica Pizzeria reopens sometime soon. I’d go there over 800 Degrees any day of the week.
